Interagency regulatory liaison group workshop on reproductive toxicity risk assessment.

چکیده
On September 21-23, 1981, a workshop was held in Rockville, MD, to discuss specific issues related to the evaluation of data for risk assessment in reproductive toxicology (including teratology). The workshop was sponsored by the Interagency Regulatory Liaison Group (IRLG) and was organized by the IRLG Reproductive Toxicity Risk Assessment Task Group.t The Task Group's original charge was to develop criteria to support the consistent interpretation and use of reproductive and teratology data in the assessment of human risk by federal regulatory agencies. Early in the deliberations of the Task Group, it became obvious that a number of issues important to risk assessment were not well addressed in the literature. From these deliberations and from comments in response to a notice of the Task Group's work plan in the Federal Register (1), the workshop was convened to address specific issues that could influence the overall basis for policy-setting in reproductive toxicity risk assessment.

The use of fish embryos is gaining popularity for research in the area of toxicology and teratology. Particularly embryos of the zebrafish offer an array of different applications ranging from regulatory testing to mechanistic research. For this reason a consortium of two research centres and a company with the support of the COST Action EuFishBiomed has organised the Workshop “The zebrafish em...

The hypothesis has been put forward that humans and wildlife species adverse suffered adverse health effects after exposure to endocrine-disrupting chemicals. Reported adverse effects include declines in populations, increases in cancers, and reduced reproductive function. The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency sponsored a workshop in April 1995 to bring together interested parties in an effo...

A review is presented of the use of developmental toxicity testing in the United States and international regulatory assessment of human health risks associated with exposures to pharmaceuticals (human and veterinary), chemicals (agricultural, industrial, and environmental), food additives, cosmetics, and consumer products. Developmental toxicology data are used for prioritization and screening...
متن کاملEpidemiological studies for regulatory agencies.
In regulation of exposures to hazardous environmental agents, epidemiologic evidence is especially important in defining human risk estimates. The process of developing appropriate regulations is complex, however, and depends on many considerations beyond those established to a high degree of scientific certainty. Thus the needs of regulatory agencies are involved in the way epidemiologic data ...
